Sample Integration of Captivate Screen Demos in RoboHelp Hotspots
November 28th, 2007 | Posted in Technical Writing |
I made a help file showing a sample integration of Captivate with Robohelp, specifically showing screen demos inside hotspots. I like that the screen demos hide so nicely.
(The content of the demos is not what I’m showing here, but if you’re totally new to Audacity, you might find them helpful as a basic intro.) Let me know if you have any feedback.

Yes, this hiding of the video is great. Thanks for taking the time to whip it together for your blog readers.
The only thing is that the landing screen looks more like a splash screen than clickable, expanding drop-downs with video in them. Seems like if someone were to Go Live with this in their Help, they would want to have a mouse-over icon-change or somehow otherwise make the drop-down look more clickable even without hovering over it.
This post also made me think that you need to eventually have your own consulting company where you talk about trends, or get hired by STC or a different entity to visually show trends (like this video does), and so on.

Yes, I know the icons are lacking and would need the rework and polish as you described. But thanks for pointing that out. You’re right.
My own consulting company? I try to keep up my blog and podcast current — it helps me stay passionate about the field.
Visually showing trends …. that seems like a cool idea. I’m not entirely sure what you mean, though. Care to elaborate?
