		<description>Thanks for your thoughts and for the link. There&#039;s something to be said for being a specialist in something, especially if you&#039;re the world&#039;s best at it.

I once had a teacher in college who was the world&#039;s foremost expert on Willa Cather. He had published tons about her and knew everything about her. But what about poetry? Or Shakespeare? Or J.D. Salinger? He knew very little about anything else. He was actually very dogmatic and seemed too focused. 

The question of breadth vs. depth is a piercing one. At the STC conference, Bogo Votovic (sp?) said you should be a generalist, but present yourself as a specialist.</description>
