In this podcast, Karen Bachmann, manager of the Usability and User Experience SIG, provides an overview of the user-centered design process. This is part one of a two part series.
More specifically, she describes the following:
- How usability is defined
- Typical steps in the usability process
- Fitting in usability with a typical development life cycle
- User analysis
- User interface prototypes
- Usability test plans
A senior member of the STC, Karen has 12 years of experience as a user experience consultant. She is also a member of the Usability Professionals Organization, served as a president of the Suncoast chapter, presented at annual STC conferences, and most recently wrote the forward for the November Intercom issue on usability. She currently works for Seascape Consulting in Tampa, Florida.

I didn’t realize that Microsoft Producer had issues with both Firefox and Internet Explorer 7.0. Basically, it just doesn’t display the file correctly. I am researching the fix — just wanted to let you know that.
This was very interesting. I look forward to seeing parts 2 and 3 when they are posted.
